The Nespresso C100-US-AERO-B Essenza automatic single-serve espresso machine is a great machine for the busy home as it is so simple to use and it brews coffee goodness in no time.

To brew an espresso, just fill up the water reservoir, turn the machine on, drop in a Nespresso capsule into the machine, wait for the lights, and push the espresso or latte button. That is as complicated as it gets! And if you want a latte, you just froth up the milk using the milk frother which comes with dosage indicators inside the jug to make it easy to measure for the milk. The frother can also be used to make hot milk for a hot chocolate as well. The design of this machine has also been very thought out, and it also comes with a stay-cool handle, drip-free spout, and cordless design (lifts off its power base) to ensure a graceful and no mess pour into your cup.

The Nespresso C100-US-AERO-B Essenza uses the pod system, meaning you have to buy the Nespresso coffee capsules, rather than buying any ground coffee from the supermarket. This may turn people away from this machine, but bear in mind, that this means less cleaning! The pods come in a variety of different flavors and each cup of espresso costs around $0.52 per cup compared to $0.30 for ground coffee. In my opinion, the extra $0.22 per cup to not have to clean, is worth it. Also, the coffee tastes so good, you won’t need to stop by the cafe on your way to work to get your caffeine fix, so in a couple of months, this Nespresso C100 should pay for itself.

With its sleek design, the Nespresso C100-US-AERO-B Essenza takes up minimal counter space in your kitchen and in my opinion, a necessary addition to any caffeine addicted household.

Coffee grinders are extensively used to grind the coffee beans at home. These are preferred by many people because of the taste and flavor produced with the help of these grinders. So, if you are really interested in taking a cup of coffee full of taste you can easily go to some well known coffee shop. However many people do not like pre ground beans. For those people coffee grinder is the best choice to satisfy your taste and needs. You can easily find these grinders from any shop.

There are two main types of electric grinders available in the markets. First one is known as electric blade grinder. These grinders are considered the basic option and they are more affordable. So, if you want to grind the beans then this would be a perfect choice for you. However, there is a drawback in using electric blade grinders. The blades of the grinder oxidize the beans more quickly that may cause the loss of aroma and flavor. This is the reason why many people do not prefer these coffee grinders.

On the other hand burr grinders are another variety of electric coffee grinders. These are more advanced and offer a great level of taste and flavor to the users. An amazing feature of this grinder is that it offers great range of levels that you can adopt and adjust according to your needs and taste. Burr grinders are usually preferred by many professionals and are extensively used in coffee shops. This model is a bit expensive. Some branded items are up to thousand dollars as well. However, you can choose according to your personal needs and budget.

Another important point to mention is that electric coffee grinders are purchased according to the requirement of cups you want to make at once. At home level you can easily go with compact model of these grinders. These models can accommodate 2 to 4 cups at once which are a usual requirement of every home.

Cleaning your coffee maker once or two times a week is necessary if you want to ensure that it will work for a longer period of time. The problem with appliances that use water is lime build-ups usually happen. Tap water contains minerals filtered by the machine but it stays there and collects overtime.

Another unwanted thing you should consider is coffee oil build up. Coffee oil will surely go rancid when not cleaned and you would not want that to alter the taste of your freshly brewed cup of joe.

So, to help you out in that score, here are a few tricks to cleaning the interior and the exterior of your coffee machine:

Step 1: Plug your coffee machine and put coffee filter and the basket. Get the water receptacle and fill it up with two cups of water-the size depending on how large a brewer it is. If you are using a large brewer, you should fill it up with two cups of water and just use the small brewing settings.

Step 2: Now add another cup of white vinegar in the water and mix it well. Put the water receptacle on the java machine and secure it tightly. Turn the machine on and set it to the smallest brew setting. If you are using a small brewer, just set it up to the usual way of brewing. Press the start button.

Step 3: Allow the machine to finish brewing. The mixed vinegar and water will pass inside the machine and will help dissolve the lime residues and coffee oil residues inside. Make sure the carafe is in its right place so it will catch all the impurities purged from the machine.

Step 4: Once the cleaning cycle finishes, check out the contents of the carafe. If it is too dirty or if this is your first time cleaning your machine after a month or a few weeks, you might want to do the previous steps one more time in order to get rid of more residues inside.

Step 5: Now clean the carafe and dump its dirty contents on the sink. Get the water receptacle and fill it up with water again. Run a water cycle in order to wash off vinegar taste inside your brewer.

Step 6: Now unplug the machine and let it cool down. Remove coffee basket and filter and clean carafe and water receptacle in soapy water. Let it dry in the sink. Get a clean towel and start wiping the exterior of the coffee brewer.

The word “percolator” has bear on intend that particular coffee pot that used to sit on Grandma’s stove and bubble away like mad all morning long. Commonly they comprise of a heat proof pot that holds the water, a long tube (like a straw) that agrees a filter basket at the top. This filter is commonly built of metal and holds the coffee grounds apart from the water in the main pot. Commonly somewhat oarsely ground coffee is used and a perforated lid is placed over the filter in order t…

The word “percolator” has come to mean that special coffee pot that used to sit on Grandma’s stove and bubble away like mad all morning long. Typically they consist of a heat proof pot that holds the water, a long tube (like a straw) that holds a filter basket at the top. This filter is normally made of metal and holds the coffee grounds apart from the water in the main pot. Usually fairly oarsely ground coffee is used and a perforated lid is placed over the filter in order to distribute the water evenly over the grounds.

As the water in the pot reached the boil, it is forced up the tube and repeatedly spilled over the grounds in the filter basket. In this way both water and the freshly brewed coffee drips back down into the hot water and over the grounds. Gradually the coffee becomes stronger as the water/coffee continues to drip over the grounds. This process continues as long as the pot is kept at the boiling point.

Evn though we may hold special memories of percolaters, they are not a particularly good way to make a great cup of coffee. In fact many people rank percolator coffee right beside coffee boiled directly in the water! When it is made in a percolater a number of things happen that produce a less than perfect cup of coffee.

For starters, the water is overheated. Boiling water simply extracts too many of the unwanted bitter flavours in the coffee and should be avioded if possible (which isn’t possible with a percolator). Also the coffee grounds become overextracted by repeatedly passing already brewed coffee back over the grounds. Finally the boiling/percolating action of the liquid tends to release many of the desirable flavours and compounds into the air. While this does produce a wonderful aroma of fresh coffee in the house, it can often lead to flat tasting coffee.

In the end, it is often best to avoid percolators if you can. There are other affordable ways of brewing great coffee, even if it may mean turning your back on wonderful aromatic memories.

Many people have a coffee maker at work. This is a great idea because it lets employees and managers alike have something in common and lets everyone have a short break from work while they refresh their coffee mugs. Coffee makers are used in office buildings, manufacturing plants, and almost every type of business there is from fast food to convenience stores. The office coffee maker is a place everyone can go and chit chat for a few minutes similar to a water cooler.

The usual office coffee maker is of the automatic drip variety and makes about 12 cups at a time. The funny thing is, 12 cups from a coffee maker means about 5 ounces per cup. Nobody drinks that little so you might as well assume one pot will serve 6 people. For a busy workplace you may need a larger coffee maker to accommodate everyone and might even decide to use a coffee vending machine. If this is owned and operated by the company, they may lower the prices so they don’t make much profit. This will be made up with employee morale and productivity so it evens out.

Many people feel better and more alert after drinking coffee so naturally, a coffee maker in the workplace helps everyone. The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant and should help them feel that way. If your employee is alert, there is less chance of incomplete work and injuries as they should be paying more attention to the job at hand.

The type of coffee maker for the workplace will need to be discussed among all the coffee drinkers and if a fancy one is needed, everyone should help pay for it. A normal coffee maker costs between 10 to 40 dollars but fancy ones can be 60-90 dollars depending on the features. These higher priced coffee makers usually come with a foamer, grinder, or some other special feature that would cause the price to be so high. You may want to just get two cheaper ones as there is always someone who wants decaffeinated coffee and doesn’t like to mix the two types of coffee in one pot.

If you work in a large manufacturing plant or industrial building, chances are you will have to walk a long way to get a cup of coffee. Many of these workplaces use strategically placed break rooms that will have an assortment of vending machines. One of those may be a coffee vending machine or there might be a coffee maker on the counter for employees in your area to use. Make sure you have someone clean it before you clock out or management may take it away. I have seen this happen before.

With espresso and cappuccino becoming very popular, you might have one of these machines in your workplace. They cater to certain people usually but many come with a normal coffee pot on one side. This can help balance out two distinct tastes and make more employees happy.

When we hear the term ‘coffee maker’ most of us think of only one type of coffee maker. Most often, the drip style coffee maker or the espresso type machine comes to mind, depending on where you live and your taste in coffee. Of course, the choices vary with the region in which people live also.

One type of coffee maker may be frowned upon in certain parts of the world, while being quite acceptable in another location. Some types of coffee makers are quite antiquated by today’s standards, but are still being used by those who prefer the coffee produced.

Such is the case with the percolator style coffee makers. There are two types of percolator style coffee makers, the stove top model and the electric percolator. Both percolators work in the same fashion, which is circulating boiling water r over the coffee grounds and through a metal filter repeatedly. Some argue that this makes a good cup of coffee while others say this style coffee maker makes the worst coffee imaginable. The naysayers exclaim the percolator produces a bitter tasting coffee no matter what brand or grind of coffee you use.

The automatic drip coffee maker is by far the most recognized type of coffee maker. This coffee maker produces coffee by heating water in a reservoir which then travels up into a coffee bin holding a filter with the coffee grounds. Then hot water steeps through the coffee and the filter in the bin and drips into an awaiting pot or carafe. These coffee makers usually have a heating element to keep the brewed coffee reasonably hot until the coffee is gone or it’s time to brew another pot. Some models come with a thermal style carafe which allows the coffee drinker to brew a pot of coffee right into the carafe for coffee on the go.

Automatic drip coffee makers are the most widely used coffee makers by the American consumer. This type of coffee maker also has the versatility to make from one to usually ten cups of coffee at a time. There are also specialized one cup coffee makers which make use of the automatic drip method. The automatic drip coffee maker uses disposable filters, unlike the percolator style coffee makers.

The espresso coffee maker comes in two versions for the consumer, stovetop and electric. The stove top model is of course less expensive than its electric counterpart. Another advantage to the stovetop espresso maker is that it is highly portable, unlike the electric model, which is limited in mobility by its size and need of electricity.

One drawback to the stovetop espresso coffee maker is that it may leave bits of very fine powdery granules. This makes the stovetop espresso coffee maker a device that one must master the techniques of using to get a perfect cup of coffee.

When a friend mentioned to me that they had a new coffee maker I naturally assumed there would be a shiny new coffee pot and heater unit sitting on the kitchen counter top. But that wasn’t the event at all. My friend had been introduced to a new ‘Barista’ whose new espresso coffee recipes were making a big stir with the local office crowd.

My knowledge of such a profession was sadly lacking but I became very impressed with the skill, knowledge of beans and roasts, and the deft handling of a large variety of complex and subtle coffee drink recipes. Indeed, the whole art of making coffee requires an array of skills, an advanced knowledge of product and months of practice and that was something that was very impressive.

The actual word ‘Barista’ is really Italian for bartender but in the English language it has come to mean someone who prepares espresso based coffee drinks, although in North America generally the term has been used for any one employed in a coffee house situation. I like the comparison with the word for wine expert which is ‘Sommelier’ as a ‘Barista’ must also be highly trained in all aspects of coffee, roasting, blending and the use of espresso equipment. Goodness knows how many different types of coffee there are in the world or even more relevant, how many different blends!

A coffee maker can be a finely educated ‘athlete’ when it comes to mixing exotic espresso drinks and there are competitive events around the globe where a barista can show his or her skills, but it takes flair, training and much practice to be considered for such performances. The Olympians of the coffee makers world.

Monte Carlo was the site of the first World Barista Championship and that was in 2000 and it quickly caught on. Almost ten years later, the World Championships are held in a different country each year and host the winners of the various national titles. Judges assess the drink made and the person who made it. The score includes not only taste but presentation and speed, as preparation is against the clock with only fifteen minutes being allowed for each Baristas performance.

Every entrant must use the espresso machine provided but many bring a whole grab-bag of exotic ingredients. Syrups, sprinkles, fruits, ground spices and even their own blended coffee roasts. In fact they must prepare four signature drinks, four different cappuccinos and four espressos while four judges sample, taste and smell: all with foam art and graphics, to complete the presentation. Fifteen minutes can mean a whole lot!

Winners have made coffee drinks with cane sugar, pepper-gel, lavender, white pepper, infused sage leaves, honey and dark chocolate squares. The 2004 World Champion from Canada named Sammy Piccolo, used raw sugar, egg yolks, curry, bittersweet chocolate and milk with his specially blended coffee roast and called his winning creation ‘Insieme’.

These competitions require dedication and hard training, just like any athlete working towards a World Championship and this puts a whole new perspective on the phrase ‘Coffee Maker’, so when you are considering your next cup of espresso, think about some new recipes and some new flavorings and maybe you could be our next representative.

Coffee is one of the most popular beverage enjoyed in the world. In this article we discuss three different kinds of makers.

Drip Coffee Maker:

As the name indicates the coffee drips through in this type of maker. There is a water reservoir, a container for the grounds and a container to hold the coffee produced. The grounds are placed in a filter inside a top container. Cold water is poured into the reservoir. This water is heated up and the hot water drips through the grounds into the container below.

This kind of maker also has a hot plate base to keep the coffee warm. If kept for warn for long periods of time, the coffee tends to get stale and rancid.

These are the most common kinds of makers around.

French Press Coffee Maker:

In this type the grounds and the hot water are in the same glass container. Hot water is steeped in the coffee grounds for about 4 to 5 minutes. A plunger is then used to push the grounds to the bottom of the container. The liquid coffee is separated from the grounds and is ready to be sipped.

This maker has no facility to keep the coffee warm requiring it to be consumed immediately.

Stovetop Coffee Maker:

In this kind of maker, there are two containers. The water is placed in the bottom container. The bottom container also has a basket to hold the coffee grounds. As the water is heated, it rises up, goes through the grounds and into the top container.

The stovetop also has no way to keep the coffee warm for long periods of time.

Depending on the kind of coffee maker you use, make sure to get the coffee beans ground to the appropriate level of coarseness.
